Life of the MFW VIP!

Men's Fashion Week VIP Fashion Night took place on the 22nd of March 2012 at the Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. This is the second consecutive year Men's Fashion Week has taken place in Singapore. This year, there would be 19 shows taking place with an expected turn out of 50,000 guests.  Designers such as Nick Hart, Hisashi Fukatami, Richard Chai and Alexis Mabille will be there to showcase their pieces alongside returning labels like Songzio, Bodybound and Reckless Erica. There will be many more designers who will be flying down to showcase their works for this event. Men's Fashion Week 2012 commences on the 18th of April to the 22nd of April, starting with the Opening Charity Night, showcasing 2 designers, internationally acclaimed Korean designer, Songzio, and Hollywood designer, Spencer Hart.

It's my second year attending Men's Fashion Week, and so far.. I'm enjoying it! I attended the MFW VIP Fashion Night to be amazed that the event was not enclosed to just an area in the Marina Bay Sands. There were different bars where you could stop at to see different things. At one of the bars, I came across this open-concept changing room where models were preparing for the event. At the glass windows, there were 3 models standing and posing with different labels on them(as below). Apart from these bars, there were stations around the Marina Bay Sands where you could get photos taken and printed, get airbrush tattoos, get popcorn and candy floss. These were free for VIP guest of the Men's Fashion Week VIP Fashion Night. However, shoppers who spent a certain amount at the Marina Bay Sands, could redeem it.

Models stood wearing clothes from the various labels and held up stands which showed the label they were using.

I stumbled across Kien, founder of Senatus, and Benedict Goh, celebrity at the Men's Fashion Week VIP Fashion Night.

I saw this young pianist located at the middle of the event, playing on the grand piano which looked a lot bigger than him. Envy - he is so talented at such a young age!

I stumbled across many friends at the event. Below, on your right, is Wesley Chui, a make-up artist who I've worked with with some of my shoots.

Then, there is Jed(below, left), who I see at most events. HAHA!

Above, is Ebru(top, left), who works at Brands Fever. She is really a nice and approachable person.

I met Shavonne(top, right) at the event too! She is another young fashion photographer with promising talent. Really enjoy looking at her works.

Then, there is Jen(top, left) who came later on after closing up her shop Litmus at The Central, Clarke Quay. She is one designer willing to help anyone out.

 Men's Fashion Week 2012! here I come...

Say No to Cruelty Towards Strays

Be the voice for animals. Be there for the animals who have helped us. Be there to make a stand.

SAY NO TO CRUELTY TOWARDS STRAYS

"Red for the blood of strays who died tragically and the love we have for them. White for the justice we fight for the strays by coming together as one. On this day, please turn up in red or white attire to show your support towards the strays in Singapore.

Please bring along your dogs (be a responsible owner, LEASH YOUR DOGS and muzzle them if required), picnic, mats, placards, family and friends." - https://www.facebook.com/events/123041404487524/125656527559345/?notif_t=plan_mall_activity

Many strays are abused and treated cruelly in the world. Yet, at times of crisis, there is always a dog or animal to save the day. Check out the videos of why we need to be there for them

Animals tend to be loyal to their owners. If we could only be there for them, the world won't be a lonely place. We have feelings, we think, we love, and we have common sense.... just like these animals. It's not about being an animal activist, it's about being a voice, a voice for them.

let's help society one step at a time!

Despite narcissistheblogger being a Fashion and Events Blog, I will always extend a helping hand to others. It's not easy living with autism. Society does not accept the non-able body person. We feel sorry for them but it ends there. Show your support for these people by clicking "like" on their Facebook page. Do what you can for society and change the world one step at a time.

“With training and support, people with autism can work”. This is the message that the Autism Resource Centre (ARC) and Project Raw Gems aim to convey to employers, families and the public.

In partnership with the ARC, a group of final-year undergraduates from Nanyang Technological University have
initiated 'Project Raw Gems'; a campaign to champion the cause for raise awareness about autism and also to encourage businesses and the public to recognise the merits of people with autism and offer them a chance at employment.

As a long time supporter of the local autism community, Starbucks Singapore has partnered with Project Raw Gems to bring to light the many capabilities of adults with autism.

For 7 years, Starbucks Singapore has worked tirelessly with ARC's Pathlight School to support the autism community. With a kind hand from Starbucks, Pathlight cafe was initiated in 2005 to train vocational track students in food and beverage preparation. The cafe community project continues to be great training ground for the students. As a natural progression, Starbucks went on to provide gainful employment for graduates of Pathlight School - citing their attention to detail and drive for perfection as values that work towards making a perfect brew - and have taken three trainees under their wing to date.

As part of the campaign, we want to encourage your readers to 'like' Project Raw Gems Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/projectrawgems) and present a screenshot of it this on 20 March 2012 (Tues) from 3pm to 5pm to enjoy a complimentary Starbucks tall-sized freshly brewed coffee at all 77 Starbucks cafes across Singapore in support of this cause. For more information on supported employment for adults with autism, visitwww.projectrawgems.com.

ORCHARD FASHION RUNWAY 2012 kicks off Fashion Steps Out

I spent a good whole day from 12 noon at Orchard Road shooting the preparation of the Orchard Fashion Runway for Her World Plus. This event kicked off the 6-week long Fashion Steps Out! The runway was done on Orchard Road itself with the idea of the day that Fashion stops Traffic. The 600-meter runway stretched between Ion Orchard to Paragon. This long runway saw many brands from Robinsons, Just Cavalli, Marks and Spencer, Paul & Joe, Rosebullet, Vivienne Westwood and many others.

The event began proper after some unpredictable weather at 8.40pm with topless guys walking down Orchard Road(below). Well... in my honest opinion, A&F guys came as a package. These guys were not from A&F btw. The show was awesome but could have been improved if the lighting was better and if the media pit allowed us to get really good angles. As you can see, the shots are just mediocre. The event ended at 9.40pm.

WICKED

If you have not gone to see this broadway musical, please take a gun and shoot yourself!

This high-energy musical is bound to keep you at the edge of your seat with their plot, music and definitely characters. It is "the untold story of the witches of oz". Taken place before dorothy comes to kansas, the witches share their story of how it all began.

The broadway musical is now on-going at the Marina Bay Sands Singapore till the 22nd of April 2012. Ticket prices range from as low as $35 to $250. Not forgetting the VIP Box seats which fits 4 people and comes with a gift and drink, going for $1000, averaging out to be also $250 per person. The show is broken up into 2 parts, the first part which is 85mins, and the second part which is 60mins, with a 20min break in between. This means the total time there is 2hours 45mins!!! It's worth every penny.

Today's show, I went for the Emerald seat which cost $250. It was a good view. The set was great!!! Not to mention, the live music from the orchestra below the stage. When I was watching the show, I just felt like I was a part of it. I'm greatly inspired with the morale behind it. I'm not gonna disclose any leaks as I do not want to spoil the experience for you. Honestly, if you have not bought your tickets yet, please do so! You would not regret it!!!!

The Illusionists at Marina Bay Sands

I went to Marina Bay Sands with my father to catch the Illusionist on their last performance in Singapore. It was really pure entertainment. I initially thought, 2 hours is pretty long, but when the show ended I was waiting for more! It wasn't just showcasing magic tricks but presenting it which drew many people to the show. I bought the $105 ticket but it was worth every penny.

Featuring The Escapologist, The Manipulator, The Grand Illusionist, The Mentalist, and The Anti-Conjourer, these magicians made magic feel as if it were real. Though, as a stage magician myself, I knew some of the illusions performed, but the presentation of it blew me away. It made me wonder.. if they could do a show like this... why can't the magicians in Singapore, let alone me? Inspiration my dear friends, inspiration. Just get ready for The Master of Disguise, Wesley Kow!
